Bangladesh's Army Chief General Mubeen Arrives in Colombo

General Mohammed Abdul Mubeen ndc psc, Bangladesh’s Chief of Army Staff, at the invitation of his Sri Lankan counterpart, arrived in Sri Lanka Wednesday (23) early morning on a five-day goodwill visit. 

Beating of Magul Bera (auspicious drums) and a traditional ceremonial reception at the Bandaranaike International Airport, Katunayake, greeted the visiting Bangladesh Chief of Army Staff General Mohammed Abdul Mubeen, Mrs Begum Syeda Sharifa Mubeen and the delegation.

At the airport, the delegation was received by Major General R.M.D.  Ratnayake Chief of Staff, Army Headquarters and his spouse on behalf of the Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya and his spouse before they were warmly conducted to the VIP lounge. 

At the airport VIP lounge, General Abdul Mubeen initialled the VIP book and signified his arrival in the country as a token of formality.

General Abdul Mubeen during his five-day stay in Sri Lanka is scheduled to call on His Excellency, the President Mahinda Rajapaksa, Prime Minister Mr D.M Jayaratne, Minister of External Affairs Prof. G.L Peiris, Secretary Defence Mr Gotabaya Rajapaksa, High Commissioner of Bangladesh, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of Sri Lanka Air Force, Air Chief Marshal Roshan Goonetileke, Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya and Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral D.W.A.S. Dissanayake.

The visiting Army Chief will pay a courtesy call on the High Commissioner of Bangladesh in Sri Lanka Wednesday (23) afternoon.
