Awareness Programmes at SFHQ-E on HIV & Anti-Social Acts

An awareness programme on HIV AIDS was held at the Security Force Headquarters – East (SFHQ-E) on Wednesday (14) on the directions of Major General Darshana Hettiarachchi, Commander, Security Forces - East.

The programme was conducted by Dr. Indra Shamali Peiris of the Polonnaruwa General Hospital. She highlighted the importance of such awareness among the community not only for prevention but also for the well being of HIV positive persons.

The programme covered various aspects of its transmission.

Furthermore, blood tests were also conducted for all the participants at the end of the day’s programme.

More than 150 Army personnel participated in the programme.

In the meantime, Directorate of Psychological Operations in conformity with the Commander’s directions for enhanced training possibilities for all ranks, conducted a workshop on ‘Anti-social acts’ at the Security Forces Headquarters - East (SFHQ-E) on Friday (16).

Under the Phase II of the project, the Directorate of Psychological Operations spearheaded arrangements to conduct more and more lectures on timely subjects.

32 officers and 480 other rankers of the SFHQ-E attended this workshop on the directions of respective commanders.

This project has so far covered almost all SFHQs as per the Directorate of Psychological Operations.
