ASL’s New Accommodation Wing for Foreign Students Opened

Sri Lanka Army’s School of Logistics (ASL) at Trincomalee fulfilled a long-felt need of the academic institute by erecting a spacious accommodation complex exclusively for foreign officers.

The Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva who was on a two-day long tour to the East to meet serving troops had the privilege of opening this new accommodation bungalow at the request of ASL Commandant, Brigadier A.S.D Liyanage on Tuesday (15).

A drive-past Guard Turnout at the entrance to the ASL compound greeted him after Major General K.M.U Wijeyarathna, Commander Security Forces Headquarters – East (SFHQ-E), together with Brigadier A.S.D Liyanage, Commandant, ASL welcomed the Commander of the Army.

The visiting Army Chief inspected the newly -constructed officers’ accommodation and unveiled a plaque at the newly-constructed foreign student officers’ bungalow at ASL. He also unveiled a plaque that speaks of the ASL’s history, made out of stone inside the premises. 

Lieutenant General De Silva planted a tree sapling and sat for a group photograph in front of the new accommodation complex.

The much-awaited moment of significance on the day’s itinerary, followed, next as the Commander launched the ASL’s website (www.army.lk/ASL) at the invitation of the Commandant.

Afterwards, the Commander shared a couple of views with a group of ASL officers and other invitees who were present at the occasion before he took leave of them.
