Asgiri Mahanayake Thero Invites Hindu Clergy to Visit Kandy

A cordial interaction between North-based Hindu clergy and Ven Udugama Sri Buddharakkitha Mahanayake Thero of Asgiriya Chapter, took place at Jaffna on Wednesday (26) with the participation of several Buddhist monks, Commander, Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J), Deputy Inspector General of the Police Mr Pujitha Jayasundara and several senior officers.

The visiting prelate was cordially received by Hindu priests who stressed the need to maintain cordial relations and sound understanding between clergies of both Hindu and Buddhist faith.

Ven Mahanayake Thero paid a courtesy call on Ven Nallai Atheenam Chief Priest Srilasri Somasundera Gnana Desika Paramacharya Swami at Nallai Atheenam in Nallur. Before the end of the meeting, Ven Mahanayake Thero invited Hindu religious dignitaries to visit Kandy and meet members of the Maha Sangha for better understanding and relations in the future.

Hindu delegation presented a symbolic Hindu flag (Nandikodi) to the visiting Mahanayake Thero as a memento before the culmination of the meeting at Nallur.
