Artillery Gun &; Ninety-three Dead Tiger Cadres Found

 MULLAITTIVU: TROOPS recovered another 130mm artillery gun, used by the LTTE terrorists in a search and clear operation conducted in the newly captured area east of PUTHUKKUDIYIRUPPU. It is yet to be confirmed whether the gun was in proper use. The gun was recovered Saturday (4) morning.

Troops engaged in the final phase of the battle to capture the limited area held by LTTE terrorists in PUTHUKKUDIYIRUPPU east killed a large number of LTTE terrorists and recovered a large stock of weapons from the area in search operations, followed by the confrontations during Saturday (4).

Among the recoveries made during search operations conducted by the troops were ninety-three LTTE dead bodies, one hundred and eleven T-56 weapons, seventeen T-81 weapons, four 12.7mm guns, two M16 rifles, two RCL barrels, forty-one I-com sets, forty Arul bombs, one hundred and fifty-five hand grenades, one claymore mine, two 40mm grenade launchers, one 30mm pedal gun  (ZPU-4), seven Multi Purpose Machine Guns (MPMG), three Light Machine Guns (LMG), two drums of 12.7mm guns, four MPMG drums, three Improvised Explosive Devices (IED), four 5.56mm weapons, four Rocket Propeller Grenade launchers (RPG), one 12.7mm gun tripod, one Montero jeep, one dolphin van, two Pulsar motorbikes and one canter lorry converted to a mobile command centre.
