An all night Pirith chanting ceremony the same Sunday (20) evening, followed by ‘Heel Daana’, brought the day’s anniversary programmes to an end.

Many retired SLA officers, serving officers, relatives of fallen SLA War Heroes and a large gathering attended the commemorative ceremonies.

Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake, seconds after wreath-laying closely went through the names inscribed on the monument and refreshed his memories, sharing a couple of thoughts with accompanying SLA Colonel Commandant and other senior officers.

Prior to Sunday’s event, the 126th anniversary ceremonies commenced at the General Cemetery, Borella, where the monument of the founding father of the SLA, late Colonel C.H Siemens is lying. A floral wreath-laying ceremony honoured his memory at the monument.

An all rank lunch, salute to the Colonel Commandant and a musical evening within this week will bring the anniversary arrangements to an end.
