Army’s Maiden Women Cricketers Beat Rivals in Inaugural Match

Sri Lanka Army’s maiden Women’s Cricket Team made its debut on Thursday (14) against its rival, Gothami Cricket Club at Panagoda Army cricket ground.

The Army women convincingly beat Gothami women cricketers in the match organized by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) after trouncing them for 44 all out and won the inaugural match by 9 wickets.

Interest and enthusiasm, exhibited by both teams affirm that Sri Lanka Army women’s entry into this field of sports would herald a new revival and beginning in the cricket history of Sri Lanka.

Lance Corporal Karunatillake took 4 wickets for 4 runs while Recruit T.L.N.D Perera had 2 wickets for 2 runs. Army women won with 42 runs for 1 wicket. Recruit Roshini Payagala scored 18 and the match was won by 9 wickets.
