Popular SMS preferences as well as the unanimous judgment of the veterans' panel, observing the vocal skills and artistic performances of tri service vocalists, contesting the finale in the 'Ranaviru Real Star' (RRS) reality show that went on boards at Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium Sunday (11) night, gave the year 2016 win to Gunner Sampath Sri Palansuriya of the Sri Lanka Artillery Regiment, amidst a mammoth representative gathering, including HE the President Maithripala Sirisena.
The packed audience burst into thundering applause as the name of the 'Super Star' in the RRS was announced by the moderator on stage, Mr. Bimal Jayakody and the reverberating revelry lasted for more than 10 minutes being unable to contain as the fans flocked the stage to greet the winner.
HE the President Maithripala Sirisena as the Chief Guest for the occasion presented him with the 'Super Star' crown which carries a prize of Rs.20 million worth house and a valuable mobile phone.
Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka, Hon. Minister of Regional Development, Hon. Gayantha Karunathilaka, Minister of Parliament Reforms and Mass Media, Hon. Arjuna Ranatunga, Minister of Ports & Shipping, Mr. P B Abeykoon, Secretary to the President, Eng. Karunasena Hettiarachchi, Secretary Defence, Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Kolitha Gunatilleke, Tri service commanders, Chairman, Sri Lanka Rupavahini Cooperation, Mr. Ravi Jayawardena and the Group Chief Executive / Non-Independent, Executive Director- Dialogue Axiata, Dr. Hans Wijayasuriya were also present there to extend their best wishes to the winner and finalists.
