Sri Lanka Army Wrestlers, competing in the National Wrestling Tournament of the 40th National Games at Nuwara Eliya Public Grounds, held in the past weekend (June 14 - 15), carried away 5 Gold, 4 Silver and 4 Bronze medals.
Competitions under 11 weight categories got off with the participation of about 50 Army wrestlers representing various districts. 15 Army wrestlers picked on district basis vied in the tournament.
Lance Corporal H.L.C Somarathna was adjudged the “Best Wrestler” in the National Wrestling Tournament, conducted under 11 weight categories.
Sri Lanka Army wrestlers showing their class, guts and stamina won 5 gold medals, 4 silver medals and 4 bronze medals in their respective weight classes.
Major General Sudantha Ranasinghe Chairman, Sri Lanka Army Wrestling Association felicitated Army Wrestlers towards the end of the tournament.
