Army Woman TT Players Receive More Credits in National Championship

Recruit Erandi Warusawithana of the Sri Lanka Signal Corps (SLSC) carried away the women's National Table Tennis Championship in the 71st National Table Tennis Championship, held at St. Thomas' Indoor Stadium, Mt. Lavinia during 27-28 January.

Recruit Erandi Warusawithana of the Army Sports Club won the championship title for the second time.

More than 200 Table Tennis players participated representing famous island-wide sports clubs during the finals in the year’s tournament.

Mr Asanka Seneviratne, Chairman, Sri Lanka Rugby Federation attended as the Chief Guest on the occasion and gave away prizes and certificates to the winners.

Major General Ajith Wijesinghe, Chairman, Army Table Tennis Committee offered his directions and co-operation to the players.

Open Women's singles

Erandi Warusawithana (Army) beat Hansani Piumila (Visakha Vidyalaya) 11/4, 11/3, 4/11, 11/7, 11/8

Open Women’s doubles

Ishara Madurangi (Ports Authority) and Recruit Nuwani Navodya (Army) beat Kavindi Sahabandu (University of Moratuwa) and Thanushi Rodrigo (Mahamaya Girls College) 6/11, 11/9, 11/6, 11/7
