Army Weight Lifters Emerge Champions by Winning 4 Gold, 2 Silver and 1 Bronze

Sri Lankan Army carried away the Weight Lifting Championship in the Defence Service Games 2014 clinching 4 Gold Medals, 2 Silver Medals and 1 Bronze Medal after 6 years at the Gymnasium, Mahasen Naval Base on Friday (22).

Corporal C.S.S.P Wijesuriya of Sri Lanka Army General Services Corps (SLAGC) and Lance Corporal A.P Abeywickrama, Private P.R.J Kumarathunaga and H.R.J Wijayantha of Sri Lanka Artilary (SLA) won Gold Medals in the Championship Tournament under 62 kg, 105kg+, 77 Kg and 69 kg weight categories, challenging competitors in the Navy and Air Force.
