Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva was conducted to the stage by the Adjutant General, Major General Nandana Udawatte amidst fanfare.

Recital of the Army song and observance of the two-minute silence in memory of all fallen War Heroes set the stage to the apex of the day’s event, amid reverberating ‘Rana Bera’ sounds, presented by troupes of the cultural bands of the Army.
