The final volleyball match in the country’s oldest volleyball tournament got off the ground on Independence Day between Sri Lanka Army and Sri Lanka Police teams at Ambepussa.
Organized by Lion’s Club and Avissawella Chandra Sports Club, the final tussle was won by Army Volleyball players with 3-1 against their Police rivals.
The Army team was represented by youngsters below 25 years who have been selected for the forthcoming National Rupavahini Tournament.
The Police team consisted of four veterans of the National Volleyball Team. The match named as ‘
Independent Cup 2014 (Open)’ was witnessed by a large crowd.
