Army Tug of War Teams Win 6 Championships

The 15th National Tug of War Championship was won by men’s and women’s teams of the Army held at Galle Face Green in Colombo on Saturday (7).

This event, conducted by the Sri Lanka Tug-of-War Federation was competed by 34 island-wide teams representing tri-forces, sports clubs, private teams and provincial teams.

Army teams participating in Senor Men’s 640 kg, Senior Women’s 540 kg, Under - 23 Men’s 600 kg, Under - 23 Men’s 500 kg, Boy’s (14-18 age group) 560 kg, Girls’ (14-18 age group) 480 kg and Open - Men and Women categories won the championship.

In the male category, under - 23 Men’s 600 kg weight class, Sri Lanka Army won the Championship while the United Sports Club in Udugampola, secured the Runner-up slot in the finals.

In the female category, under - 23 Women’s 500 kg weight class, Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps won the Championship while the ‘Bhathi’ Sports Club in the North Central Province, secured the Runner-up slot.

In the senior Men’s 640kg weight category, Sri Lanka Army won the Championship while the Sri Lanka Navy secured the Runner-up slot.

In the senior women’s 540 kg, weight class, Sri Lanka Army won the Championship while Sri Lanka Navy secured the Runner-up slot.

In the Men’s Catch weight category, Sri Lanka Army won the Championship while ‘Susitha’ Sports Club in Ganemulla secured the Runner-up slot.

In the Women’s Catch weight category, Sri Lanka Army won the Championship while ‘Bhathi’ Sports Club in the North Central Province secured the Runner-up slot.

Mr. K.S Ruwan Chandra de Silva, Secretary to the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs graced the event as the Chief Guest. Senior members of the Tug of War Federation Tri-Forces Officers were present during the awarding ceremony.Sports brands | New Balance 991 Footwear
