ARMY TROOPS WELCOME PAKISTAN'S PREMIER WITH A GUARD OF HONOUR

Sri Lanka Army had the distinguished honour of presenting the Guard of Honour to the visiting Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mr Muhammad Nawaz Sharif at the Presidential Secretariat premises in Colombo on Tuesday (5) morning. 

HE the President Maithripala Sirisena during this formal state welcome ceremony greeted him with military honours in the presence of the Prime Minister Hon. Ranil Wickremasinghe and a gathering of Ministers and diplomats. Mr Sharif is on a three-day official visit to Sri Lanka.

HE Maithripala Sirisena, together with the Hon. Prime Minister received the Pakistan Prime Minister on arrival at the venue and ushered him to the saluting dais along with Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva, Commander of the Army to receive the military salute in accordance with formalities.

The Guard of Honour comprised of 2 officers and 72 Army personnel of the Gemunu Watch (GW) with their Presidential colours.

The cultural troupe comprised of tri service and Police artistes extended their warm welcome to the visiting Pakistan’s Prime Minister in a dancing feature.

Afterwards, Sri Lanka Artillery (SLA) Gun Battery fired 19 rounds and saluted the State guest, bringing the welcome ceremony to an end.
