‘Youth Yathra – 2016’, organized by the Eco Friendly Volunteers (ECO-V) from Jaffna, Matara and Kandy, together with the support of the troops of the Security Force Headquarters – Jaffna (SFHQ-J) coincided with the 15th anniversary of the ECO-V on Sunday (07).
A total of 25 ECO-V members together with Army soldiers from the SFHQ-J participated in the first leg of the Youth Yathra – 2016, specified as Yal Yathra – 2016 from Myliddy to Point Pedro.
During the programme, the participants enjoyed riding bicycles to promote the bicycle riding as the most environment-friendly vehicle for travelling.
Troops of the 55 Division provided refreshments during the journey on the directions of Major General Mahesh Senanayake, Commander, Security Forces – Jaffna (SF-J).
Mrs Kanchana Weerakoon, President, ECO-V and more than 15 Army soldiers attended the event.
