Army Troops Search for Survivors in Pilimathalawa Landslide Tragedy

A group of 32 Army personnel including 2 officers of 2 (Volunteer) Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) have thrown their full weight behind rescue operations at  Ilukwaththa, Ranmalaka, Pilimathalawa where a landslide which destroyed two houses buried six persons including females, males and children alive Monday (16) night. 

Troops who rushed to the scene a few minutes after the incident have been engaged in their search for any survivors who are believed to have been buried alive. 

People in the vicinity and other volunteers have extended their support to rescue operation being carried out by the troops. Major General A.P De Z Wickremaratne, Commander, Security Forces - Central also visited affected areas to witness ongoing relief and rescue operations.  

Meanwhile, two dead bodies of the landslide victims at the Pilimathalawa were recovered by the troops a few minutes ago.
