Army Troops Help Affected Villagers &;amp; Children

THE East-based Army troops, working hand in hand with the government’s ongoing ‘Neganehira Navodaya’ (Eastern Re-awakening) programme, are launching many development and welfare projects on behalf of civilians living under 232 and 234 Brigades.
      
The Army with the assistance, received from the civil sector went on distributing clothes and school accessories among civilians and children in Perumveli, Iralakulam and Iluppupathana villages which had been affected earlier by cycles of LTTE terrorism. Distribution of those items took place on Sunday (11).
 
Deputy Minister Ameer Ali meanwhile, declared opened a new Disaster Management and Relief Services wing in Pettipaliyam area on Sunday (11), from which people could receive basic assistance in times of disasters or man-made calamities.
  
This wing is to continue its function in the area round the clock as the main welfare outfit in the area.

 Meanwhile, eighteen displaced people of five families housed at   Sinhala Maha Vidyalaya transit camp found their re-settlement in their new homesteads on 12th October. Army troops assisted relevant civil authorities for the process.
