Army Troops Bring Bushfires Under Control

A bushfire erupted on the Maragala mountain range in the general area of Akkara Ata, close to Moneragala town was brought under control by the troops in the 121 Brigade serving under the Security Force Headquarters - Central (SFHQ-C) on Tuesday (28).

A group of more than 31 members of the 121 Brigade soon after the emergency was brought to their notice rushed to the scene on the directions of the Brigade Commander who got in touch with the Commander, SFHQ-C.

Within a few hours, the troops managed to douse the fire and brought the situation under control with the support of some civilians who volunteered to assist. 

Meanwhile, SFHQ-C troops put out another bush fire erupted on the Pareviyangala Mountain, Laddugama, Welimada on Friday (01).

A total of 11 Army personnel including 1 Officer and 10 Other Ranks of 3 (V) SLSR totally controlled the bushfire with the support of some civilians and the Police within a few hours.
