Members of the Army serving the Security Force Headquarters - Central (SFHQ-C) at the request of hospital authorities at Kandy General Hospital, Peradeniya Teaching Hospital, Nuwara Eliya Base Hospital and Debarawewa Hospital volunteered and provided skeletal medical services when minor staff in those hospitals struck work on Wednesday (30).
Army personnel of the 11 Division on the directions of its General Officer Commanding assisted the routine administration of the Kandy, Peradeniya and Nuwara Eliya hospitals, particularly in relation to emergency and essential services.
More than 105 officers and other ranks of 2 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR), 1 Sri Lanka Rifle Corps (SLRC), Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps (SLAWC) and 3 SLSR, took part in this arrangement.
Similarly, 18 Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) troops under 12 Division Headquarters on the directions of Brigadier N Dharmaratne, General Officer Commanding, 12 Division, went to Debarawewa Hospital and helped its conduct of affairs.
