Army Stall on Agriculture in ‘Sustain Lanka’ Exhibition - 2017 Attracts Crowds

An exhibition stall, designed by the Army Directorate of Agriculture and Livestock on the directions of the Commander of the Army and the guidance of the Director, Agriculture and Livestock at the recent ‘Thirasara’ Exhibition at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH), Colombo during 31,March - 4, April attracted the attention of many visitors to the exhibition.

The Army stall, themed on ‘A country free from toxicants’, ‘Prevention from Chronic Kidney Diseases (CKD)’, ‘Righteous Country’, ‘Carbonic Fertilizer Production’, ‘Control of Polythene use’, ‘Promotion of domestic crops’, ‘Hybrid production of seeds’, etc educated the visitors by way of screening informative literature , presentations, etc.

Art competitions for children, Angam Pora exhibitions, toxin free cookery programmes, health clinics, green job fair, supporting programs for green entrepreneurs, publishing of research reports, exhibition of new creations, debates, screening of films, farmers’ meetings, solutions for customers’ issues, physical fitness programs and intellectual discussions, held in line with this national concern, adorned the whole of this mega Exhibition.

State agencies, private firms, small scale entrepreneurs, non-governmental organizations, community based organizations, co-operative societies, scientists, creative artists, researchers, inventors, media personnel, school children, youth, farmer communities, consumers and many others had produced their exhibitors.

The ‘Sustain Lanka’ national event, organized in parallel with the three-year plan for a Toxin Free Nation, a concept of President Maithripala Sirisena and in accordance with the Sustainable Development goals announced by the United Nations drew a huge gathering on all 5 days.

The inauguration ceremony of ‘Sustain Lanka’ National Celebration was held under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena on Friday (31).
