Army Set to Produce One More International Cricketer

Sri Lanka Army cricketers received another stimulus when their right arm leg spinner, Lance Corporal Prasanna Sekkuge was selected to play the Sri Lanka ‘A’ Cricket Team in the forthcoming tour of England (17 July - 19 August, 2011).

Prasanna Sekkuge as one of the budding cricketers in the Army has already represented Sri Lanka ‘A’ Cricket Team during last year’s Australian tour, triangle series, Pakistan, South Africa and Sri Lanka and Canada, Ireland and Sri Lanka. To his credit, he also captained the Army cricket team in the premier ‘B’ tournament and captured 67 wickets in the 8 matches where the Army team emerged runners-up in the Sri Lanka Cricket, conducted premier tournament.
