Army School of Logistics in Trincomalee Gets New Wings

The Army School of Logistics (ASL) at Trincomalee extended a warm welcome to the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake when he went there Thursday (14) morning to vest a few new additions and facilities with the ASL trainees at the invitation of its Commandant, Brigadier Indrajith Vidyananda.

Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake, Chief Guest for the day took part in the ceremonial opening of a newly-constructed lecture hall, a computer laboratory and a new publication unit in the ASL complex during his visit to the place. Before the ceremonial opening of those three units got underway, the visiting Commander was welcomed in a drive-past Guard Turnout in accordance with military traditions.

A few minutes after the ceremonial opening, the Commander was invited to leave memories by planting a sapling in the premises before the ASL Commandant and Army personnel under training at the ASL sat together with the day’s Chief Guest for a group photo.

Afterwards, the Commander addressed the troops in the ASL and underlined the importance of proper training on logistics for a mammoth organization of this nature where administration plays a leading role.

During his stay there, the Commander undertook a field visit in the premises, together with the ASL Commandant and saw for himself how different wings in the ASL complex operate aiming to impart the best of the best to the trainees concerning logistical roles in the Army.

Towards the end of his itinerary, the Commander spoke to the Officers, serving the ASL and urged them to fulfill specific duties to the best of their ability for better results while appreciating their commitment to the ASL.

Major General Piyal Wickremaratne, Director General General Staff, Major General Nandana Senadeera, Commander, Security Forces - East, Major General Dananjith Karunaratne, Commander, Army Training Command, Major General Aruna Jayasekara, General Officer Commanding, 22 Division and a gathering of Senior Officers and Officers were associated with the day’s programme at the ASL.
