Army Rugby players competing in the 'Rudra Rajasingham Challenge Trophy' against Police counterparts convincingly claimed victory in the ‘B’ Division Rugby Tournament, held Wednesday afternoon (7) at Police ground Thimbirigasyaya.
In the first half, Army players comfortably enhanced the lead, signalling what would follow in the end. Although Police ruggerites gradually posed a stiff resistance to their rivals in a more determined manner, Army players gave a stiff resistance and defended the victory.
Several players in both teams appeared prominent, amid roars of applause and cheering. Finally, the exciting match gave the win to the Army Rugby team.
Major General Sathyapriya Liyanage, Chairman, Army Rugby Committee extended his warm greetings to the winners during the presentation ceremony.
Senior Army and Police Officers, a few other invitees and Rugby fans were associated with the prize awarding ceremony.
