Army Rugby Players Receive Incentive for Excellence in Future

Sri Lanka Army Rugby League which has been displaying promising achievements in Rugby by beating even the most formidable opponents in the recent past is to shortly receive the gift of a new Rugby ground, highly suitable for training sessions inside the Panagoda Army Cantonment.

Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake, Commander of the Army, quite happy with most recent gains of Army Rugby players accordingly instructed Major General Sathyapriya Liyanage, Commander, Security Forces -West (SF-West) and Chairman, Sri Lanka Army Rugby Committee to explore possibilities of having our own ground for training preparations as this need has posed a major setback to their enhanced training capacities.

On Wednesday (23), a brief ceremony at the SFHQ-West premises saw Major General Sathyapriya Liyanage, together with a few other Senior Officers laid the cornerstone for construction of the new Rugby ground as the auspicious minute struck. SFHQ-West troops, together with Army engineers and Corps of Engineer Services would complete the laying and construction of the new Rugby playground within a short period as per instructions of the Commander of the Army.
