Army Rowers Win Championship in National Rowing Competition -2017

The Association of National Rowers organized, 32nd National Rowing Competition 2017 got underway at Diyawanna Oya during September 21-23.

20 Rowing teams represented the National Rowing Competition. The Sri Lanka Army Rowing Committee, picked one male rowers team and a team of female rowers for championship.

Making a record of the annual event, Sri Lanka Army teams achieved its Championship for the 6th consecutive year in an impressive contest.

Minister Chandima Weerakkody as the Chief Guest gave away the trophies to the Champions during a simple ceremony towards end of the tournament.

Following achievements were won by Army rowers in different events;

Lieutenant M.B.C.H Liyanage of 4 Military Intelligence Corps achieved the 1st place in Open Pair event and Open Double Scull event.

Lance Corporal E.P.N Prasad 3 Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police achieved the 1st place in Open Pair event and Open Coxless Four event.

Lance Corporal P.P.T.S Weerasinghe of Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police achieved the 1st place in Open Pair event and 2nd place in Open Double Scull event.

Lance Corporal M.M.J.W Marasinghe of 1 Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police achieved the 1st place in Open Double Scull event and 2nd place in Open Pair event.

Private P.G.C.S Karunaratne of 3 Mechanized Infantry Regiment achieved the 3rd place in Open Pair event and 2nd place in Coxless Four event.

Lance Corporal S.G.S.K Weerakon of Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps achieved the 2ndplace in the Open Pair event.

Private Chinthaka Kumara of Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps achieved the 2nd place in the Coxless Four event and the 2nd place in Pair event (over 18).

Private M.P.M Medonsa of Mechanized Infantry Regiment achieved the 2nd place in Coxless Four event.

Captain S.A Viwekananda of Mechanized Infantry Regiment achieved the 3rd place in Open Scull event and the 2nd place in Scull event (over18).

Captain A.M.M.M.M Alagiyawanna of 24 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment achieved the 3rd place of Double Scull event and the 2nd place in Coxed Four event (over 18).

Private U.U.R Udawatte of 7 Sri Lanka Army Ordnance Corps achieved the 3rd place in Double Scull event (over 18).

Private R.T.S Karunaratne of Mechanized Infantry Regiment achieved 3rd place in Double Scull event (over 18).

Private E.P.N Priyasad of Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps achieved the 2nd place in Pair event (over18).

Private K.P.C Pushpakumara of 5 Sri Lanka Armourd Corps achieved the 2nd place in Coxed Four event (over 18).

Private E.M.N.S Sagara of 5 Sri Lanka Armourd Corps achieved the 2nd place in Coxed Four event (over 18).

Private K.P.C Pushpakumara of 5 Sri Lanka Armourd Corps achieved the 2nd place in Coxed Four event (over 18).

Private S.S.A Surasena of 6 Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police achieved the 2nd place in Double Scull event (18 over).

Private S.A.N Madubashini of Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps achieved the 2nd place in Double Scull event.

Lance Corporal A.M.D.P.K Bandara of 4 Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police achieved the 3rd place in Open Double Scull event.

Private T.H.B.L Fernando of 20 Gajaba Regiment achieved the 3rd place in Open Pair event.

Private W.A.G.P Pushpakumara of 24 Gajaba Regiment achieved the 3rd place in Open Pair event.
