Army Records A Nine Wicket Win In Cricket Tournament

Sri Lanka Army cricketers during a remarkable encounter with their counterparts at Wattala St. Anthony Sports Club recorded a resounding victory by 9 wickets during the Premier Trophy Cricket Tournament at Panagoda Army grounds.

The annual tournament, organized by the Sri Lanka Cricket Board, kicked off during three days on Feb 18, 19 and 20.

Army cricketers scored 105 runs for loss of one wicket against 137 of their rivals in the second innings and recorded a unique mark in the tournament dominating the match. The Army cricket team scored 186 runs in the first innings against 153 of their rivals.

The captain in the Army cricket team, Lance Corporal Prasanna Sikkuge sending shock waves among both players and spectators, took 13 wickets and showed his exceptional talents.

Army cricketers, Rishan Kavinga and Mohammed Feshal respectively scored 76 and 68 runs during the match. Nine cricket teams are vying for the trophy during this year’s tournament.

The match between the Army team and the BRC cricket team in the tournament will take place at BRC grounds on February 25, 26 and 27.
