The first peripheral office for management of civil employees serving the Army was established at the Security Force Headquarters - Central (SFHQ-C) on Friday (6), following directions given by the Commander of the Army who maintains that members of the civil staff at provincial level, should be facilitated to resolve their administrative matters with less inconvenience.
Mr Gamini Mahagamage, Director, Civil Affairs as the Chief Guest for the occasion, inaugurated the new office amidst Seth Pirith chanting of the Maha Sangha. Mr H.M.D Tharanga Wijedasa has been appointed as the first civil administrative officer of this provincial unit.
The brief opening ceremony was witnessed by Brigadier H.M.U.B Herath of the SFHQ-C and several other officers of the SFHQ-C and Colombo-based Directorate of Civil Affairs.
A few months ago, Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake, Commander of the Army made a donation of Rs 5 million towards the welfare fund of civil employees and decentralization of the civil affairs in the Army.
