Army Offers Help to Pregnant Women &;amp; Kids at Jaffna IDP.

 As a part of the scheme for promotion of welfare among the IDPs (Internally Displaced Persons), Commander, Security Forces - Jaffna Major General Mendaka Samarasinghe, on instructions of the Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya, distributed a stock of parcels containing essential items among a section of IDPs in Jaffna on Tuesday (21).

 Ninety small children and ten pregnant women in the Kopay IDP welfare centre were the recipients of the donations.

Baby milk powder, eau de cologne, powder and cream, baby suits and baby commodes for children between 1 - 10 years of age and school items such as pens, pencils, drawing sets, exercise books and other necessities for primary students were handed over by the Jaffna Commander during a meeting held at Kopay Teachers’ College.

On the same occasion, ten expecting women separately received parcels of nutritious milk powder packets from Major General Samarasinghe.

General Officer Commanding 51 Division Brigadier Priyantha Jayasundara and a few Senior Officers attended the event.
