Army Muaythai Boxers Bag 40 Medals in National Tournament

The 53rd sport in the Army and the 63rd sport at the national level, Muaythai produced excellent national records in the recent National Muaythai Tournament bagging 40 medals of importance.

Sri Lanka Army Muaythai players secured 15 Gold medals out of 22 Gold medals under 8 weight classes, 12 Silver medals and 13 Bronze medals in addition to the trophy for the Best Sportsman and the Best Loser.

Lance Corporal S.H.L Senarathna emerged as the Best Boxer. He had 3 fights with 3 formidable boxers within the day and became the star of the series of the championship. Private G.M.N Sandamali became the Best Loser in the women’s event.

Major General M. Mudannayaka, Chairman, Sri Lanka Army Muaythai Committee and Lieutenant Colonel P.P.C Perera, the coach, together with several state officials witnessed the finals.
