Army Medalists in SAG Begin to Return Home

Sri Lanka Army sportsmen and women who made their organization proud by winning medals in the ongoing 12th South Asian Games (SAG) in India arrived in Sri Lanka on Tuesday (9) upon completion of their events.

Sri Lankan Army Wrestlers and Weight Lifters secured several Silver and Bronze medals in the event and their details are as follows;

Lance Corporal J.A.C Lakmal of 4 Commando Regiment (CR) - Silver Medal (Weight Lifting - 55 kg)

Lance Corporal K.C.T Abeykoon of 5 Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) - Bronze Medal (Weight Lifting - 94 kg)

Lance Bombardier A.P.S Abeywickrama of 15 Sri Lanka Artillery (SLA) - Bronze Medal (105 + kg)

Private E.A Kaluthanthri of 6 Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps (SLAWC) - Silver Medal (75 +kg).

Private S.P.S. Niroshani of 2 (Volunteer) SLAWC (Wrestling - 48 kg) - Silver Medal

Private P.P.A.K Wijesinghe and Private W.M.D.T.K Weerabahu of 4 (Volunteer) SLAWC in (Wrestling - 53 Kg and 58 Kg) - Silver Medal                                                                                        
A few representatives of the Army and the Sports Board received them on arrival at the airport.

More Army sportsmen and women participating in several other athletic events are expected to achieve more medals in the next couple of days.
