Army 'Leadership Training' for Ayurvedic Physicians Ends

More than 643 Ayurvedic medical practitioners (new physicians) who underwent the reputed 'Leadership, Positive Attitudes and Moral Development' training workshop of the Army for 6 days in five island-wide Army Training Schools, completed their course and left the premises after brief closing ceremonies.

Department of Ayurveda through the Ministry of Health, Nutrition & Indigenous Medicine requested the Commander of the Army to make the Army training in this sphere available to those new practitioners also before they move out to various areas in the country.

The six-day long training programme largely focused on ‘Promotion of Leadership Skills and Qualities’, ‘Moulding of Social Discipline’, ‘Development of Vocational Skills’, ‘Preparedness to Overcome Challenges in Life’, ‘Generating of Correct Social Expectations’, ‘Conduct of Professional Guide’ and ‘Mental Equilibrium’ among the attendees.

Considered as one more contribution to the nation-building aspirations of the Commander of the Army, the project got underway simultaneously at island-wide Army training schools 6 days ago in Diyatalawa, Kalatthewa, Minneriya, Embilipitiya and Buwelikada.

This project coincides with the Commander’s conceptual notion that the Army should devote 1/3 of its dedication for nation-building tasks with the objective of supporting the civil administration, in whatever the way possible.

Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake in response to a request made by the Ministry of Health, Nutrition & Indigenous Medicine to the Ministry of Defence accordingly instructed the Director General Training, Major General Vijitha Ravipriya at the Army Headquarters to facilitate the request.

Accordingly, arrangements were put in place at those five main Army training centres, Marksmanship & Sniper Training School at Diyatalawa, Armoured Corps Training School, Kalaththewa, School of Artillery, Minneriya, School of Military Engineers, Embilipitiya and School of Signals, Boowelikada for training of those Ayurvedic medical practitioners under the supervision of respective Commandants.

A similar training project for Samurdhi officials a few weeks ago ended successfully, for which HE the President also extended greetings while he was in Polonnaruwa.
