Army Initiative Gets More Artificial Limbs to Disabled Jaffna Civilians

552 Brigade of the 55 Division under the Security Force Headquarters – Jaffna (SFHQ-J), taking one more initiative provided a stock of 26 artificial limbs to another group of disabled civilians in Jaffna with the sponsorship made available by Mr Sisira Attanayake, Centre for Handicapped in Kundasale, Kandy.

The programme, coordinated by Brigadier Jayantha Guneratne, General Officer Commanding (GOC), 55 Division under the supervision of Major General Dharshana Hettiarachchi, Commander, Security Forces - Jaffna (SF-J) saw 25 artificial legs and one arm to the cost of about Rs 8 lakhs were distributed among 23 disabled Jaffna civilians through coordination done by Lieutenant Colonel Wasantha Waidyatilleke, Civil Affairs Officer at the 55 Division at the SFHQ-J.

Distribution of the artificial limbs took place at 552 Brigade Headquarters premises in Aiyakachchi, Jaffna on Tuesday (17) during a simple ceremony, graced by District Secretariat officials, Officers of the 552 Brigade, family members and civilians.
