Army Hospital Blood Bank recently introduced the new ‘Gel Card Technology’ for facilitation of blood grouping and compatibility testing for its patients.
Instead of the present ‘Test Tube’ method, the Army Hospital Blood Bank, enhancing its services to its patients, took another step ahead with the use of this most modern technology that would expedite procedures. This technology is being presently used by modern blood banks in developed countries.
With the help of new technology, patients would be able to obtain accurate results of their blood testing and Gel Card can be stored for many weeks to revise the results, if necessary.
As an advantage of this technology, transfusion of very small amount of blood from patients will reduce the waste of blood for testing purposes.
The method came into effect from February 1, 2017 at the Army Hospital.
