Army Golf Committee Promotes Golf by Training

With a view to elevating Golf standards within the organization, the Sri Lanka Army Golf Committee was able to hire the training assistance of three professionals in the sport.

Three Golf coaches, Mr. Sirath Kasturirathne , Mr. Binupa Wijesinghe and Mr. Saundar Raj trained Army Golf players at Diyatalawa Golf Course and offered their professionalism after conducting a workshop for a few days.

52 officers and 38 other ranks playing Golf attended the Golf workshop during 27 February to 01 March and received training. Representing Nuwaraeliya Golf Club, those coaches extended their support to Army trainees.

The move was initiated under the guidance of the Commander of the Army.

In the meantime, on the directions of the Commander of the Army, Diyatalawa Golf Course began its re-construction. The work is scheduled to be completed by May 2017 in order to reopen the course.

30 troops and 10 Golf players of the Army are engaged in the re-construction of the Golf Course under the supervision of Brigadier N. Haturusinghe, Chairman, Army Golf Committee.
