Army Finds Donors for Mullaittivu Kuruvil Tamil Vidyalaya Library


Security Forces Headquarters - Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT), commanded by Major General L.B.R Mark, fulfilling a long-felt need of the library at Mullaittivu Kuruvil Tamil Vidyalaya, donated a large consignment of books with the support given by a few philanthropists, resident in the US.

The donation, worth more than Rs 1 lakh was coordinated by Major General L.B.R Mark, through US-based one Mr Senaka Seneviratne who organized the stock in memory of late Mr P. Nagendran, himself a former civilian from Kuruvil area but lived the rest of his life in the US before his demise.

A brief ceremony at Kuruvil Tamil Vidyalaya in connection with the donation of books took place on Wednesday (5) amidst a gathering of invitees, including Colonel Subhash Welikala, 682 Brigade Commander, the Chief Guest who represented the Mullaittivu Commander.

The library was renamed as Mr P. Nagendran Library after opening a plaque on the same occasion at the same time. Principal, Mr Sellaiah Weganathan delivered a special oration at the occasion, applauding the efforts of the Army for the benefit of the student community in the area.

Two students of the school during their brief speeches thanked the Army profusely and requested for a new classroom in the future.

Teachers, parents, civilians, students and a large gathering of civilians from the area witnessed the opening of the library.
