Army Coordinated 'Sammabhimani' Spiritual Programme to be Launched Across the Country

 
‘Sammabhimani’ Spiritual Programme that would go to many places of the island with a view to enhancing moral development among civilians and all segments in society, is to be conducted by Ven Uduwe Dhammaloka Thero with the coordination and support of the Sri Lanka Army.
 
This was announced by Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake, Commander of the Army during a special press conference, held at the Media Centre of the Ministry of Defence at Colombo 3 Monday (3) afternoon.
 
Ven Uduwe Dhammaloka Thero, a popular Dhamma preacher said that our society, now free from terrorist menace, need to be elevated to high moral grounds through which the hard-earned peace, could be made more meaningful by infusing Buddhist values, compassionate thoughts,etc
 
Lieutenant General Ratnayake told the conference that the Army would be pleased to coordinate the programme, to be held first at Embilipitiya, Pelmadulla and Ratnapura under the Phase one of the project.
 
The first programme, conducted jointly by Ven Uduwe Dhammaloka, Ven. Dodampahala Rahula and Ven. Agalakada Sirisumana Theros will get underway at Embilipitiya Mahaweli Grounds on November 7, 8 and 9.
 
‘Sammabhimani’ will afterwards be held in Hambantota, Badulla, Ampara, Moneragala, Galle, Matale, Polonnaruwa, Trincomalee, Vauniya, Anuradhapura, Kurunegala, Homagama, Kesbewa, Avissawella, Gampaha and Kaduwela.
 
School students will also be facilitated to take part in the ‘Sammabhimani’ in addition to civil sector participants, including prisoners after a final decision to that effect, is made by authorities, Lieutenant General Ratnayake added.
 
The media briefing was attended by Ven. Uduwe Dammaloka Thero, patron ‘Sammabhimani’ programme, Major General Prasad Samarasinghe, Chief of Staff, Brigadier H.R.K.P Peiris, Director, Directorate of Psychological Operations at Army Headquarters, Brigadier Ruwan Wanigasooriya, Military Spokesman and Brigadier Jayanath Jayaweera, Director, Directorate of Media at Army Headquarters.
