Army Cooperates with Funeral Arrangements of Buddhist Association's Patron


Sri Lanka Army on the directions of the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva instructed the Army Buddhist Association (ABA) to extend its full cooperation for the conduct of funeral arrangements of late Venerable Dodangoda Assaji Nayake Thero who had been the religious advisor and the patron of the ABA since its founding in 1990. 

The late Thero who was also the Chief Adhikarana Sanghanayaka of the Amarapura Nikaya passed away on Saturday (15) at the age of 68 and the cremation took place at Lunawa Kalapuwa grounds in Moratuwa Wednesday (19).

The remains of late Venerable Dodangoda Assaji Thero lay in state at the International Meditation Centre, Rawathawatte, Moratuwa.

The late venerable thero has been the patron of the Army Buddhist Association since 1990 and as the religious leader to the Army, late Thero contributed immensely to all religious programmes, conducted by the Army.

Major General Mahinda Ambanpola, President, Army Buddhist Association, together with the members of the Army Buddhist Association, senior officers, officers and soldiers attended the funeral and paid their last respect to the late Thero.
