Army Cooks and Stewards Improve their Knowledge

The second phase of the training programme for Army cooks and stewards designed to improve the professional knowledge on cookery and stewardship, organized by the Directorate of Civil Administration Affairs together with Directorate of Training concluded recently.

The training programmes were initiated on a concept of the Commander of the Army and the first phase of the training programmes was held in May.

25 members each from cookery and stewardship fields followed the course which was assisted by Swiss Lanka Hotel School and Aquinas University College.

The participants received certificates at the end of the course from the respective institutes.

Around 100 cooks and stewards were able to improve their knowledge on cookery and stewardship upon successful completion.

Those who have completed both phases will follow a two-month practical session at hotels of the Laya Hotel Chain of the Army. The first batch of nine members is already undergoing training at Laya Beach, Laya Leisure and Laya Safari Hotel.
