DEFENDING National Champions, Sri Lanka Army beat Sri Lanka Air Force in the Munchee National Volleyball Championship finals played at Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium Saturday (13) evening and retained their Championship for the year 2010.
The match which was a closely contested one was won by the Army in three sets to one. Army players also won several awards during the tournament. They include Best Setter, Best Serve, Best Hitter and Best Blocker. The team was captained by WO-II K.N.K Sunil and the Coach was Sergeant S.R.G.N Premalal.
The President of Sri Lanka Volleyball Association and former Minister Mr. Dilan Perera, the Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Air Force Air Chief Marshal W.D.R.M.J Gunathilaka, the Chief of Staff of Sri Lanka Army Major General Daya Rathnayake, President of Army Volleyball Association Brigadier D.C.S Wanniarachchi and a large crowd including officers and soldiers from the Army and Air Force witnessed the match.
