Lance Corporal I. N. D Dassanayake of Sri Lanka General Service Corps (SLAGSC) won the Women’s Chess Championship – 2019 and was adjudged the Best Woman Player in the National Chess Championship under ‘B’ Category.
Army Chess players were qualified to enter the selection board under the ‘B’ category after they showed their talents during the ‘Sri Lanka National (Major Division) /Women’s Qualifying Chess Championship – 2019 which was held from 09 to 11 March at different places in Sri Lanka.
During the Championship, Private B. Ruchithan of 24 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment showed his talents in the Jaffna Hindu Primary College. His talents were highly appreciated during this championship.
Similarly, Corporal M.A.G.A. P Bandara SLEME, Corporal H. K. G Sampath SLEME, Lance Corporal T.A.T Madushanka SLAMC and Signalman L.D Madushanka SLSC who represented the Army Chess team were selected. Sri Lanka Army Chess committee has extended its best cooperation to the project.
