To coincide with forthcoming Christmas celebrations, the Christian Association of the Sri Lanka Army organized a Christmas Carol Sunday (19) evening at St. Joseph’s Chapel, Colombo 10. The Chief Guest for the event was the Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya accompanied by President Seva Vanitha Army Branch, Mrs Manjulika Jayasuriya.
Members of the Army Band, School Children and renowned singers, Piyal Perera, Kamal Addara Arachchi, Ronny Leitch, Chandimal Fernando, Kavtha Gunesekara, Saman Nishantha, Priyanka Quaker and Eshantha De Andrado sang odes to Prince of the Peace, Jesus Christ before the audience.
Former Army Commanders, Senior Army Officers, Officers and Other Ranks were present on the occasion. Rev. Fr. Joseph Benedict of Sri Lanka Army Chaplin, Rev. Fr. Rector, teachers and the choir of St. Joseph’s College, Colombo 10, Rev. Fr. Rector, teachers and the choir of St. Sebastian College Moratuwa and Rev. Sister Principal, teachers and the choir of St. Lavrence College Borella were also present.
The evening glittered with a colourful display of fireworks. This annual event organized during the Christmas season is customary to the Sri Lanka Army.
