Army-Built Water Scheme Commissioned

The Army-built drinking water project at 611 Brigade area, thanks to the financial support of the Alliance Development Trust, was commissioned recently for the benefit of 149 resettled families living in Madukulam, Kovilpuliyankulam, Sinnathampanai, Senkadapadai and Velankulam areas.

Army troops realizing the acute need among civilians for drinking water assisted for construction of the project by way of offering their labour. Water scheme will accordingly help livelihood of the masses in the area.

Commissioning of the scheme took place during a ceremony attended by Mr Godfrey Yogaraja, Chairman, Alliance Development Trust, Mr P.C David and Mr M. Alora, both of them from Alliance Development Trust, Brigadier K.G.D Perera, 611 Brigade Commander, Civil Affairs Coordinating Officer in 61 Division, several senior officers and a large gathering of beneficiaries.
