Army-built Polonnaruwa Nurses’ Hostel Vested in Public

The Army-constructed Nurses’ Hostel at the Medirigiriya Base Hospital, under the ‘Pibidemu Polonnaruwa’ (Awakening of Polonnaruwa) District Development Project of the ‘Rajarata Navodaya’ of the Presidential Secretariat was vested in the public during a ceremony attended by HE the President Maithripala Sirisena at Minneriya in the Polonnaruwa district on Thursday (1).

12 Corps of Engineer Services (CES) was instrumental in erecting this Nurses’ Hostel under the ‘Pibidemu Polonnaruwa’ development project at a cost of Rs38.44 million. However, Army Engineer troops of the ‘Pibidemu Polonnaruwa’ completed the construction task at a cost of Rs 28.47 million there by saving a sum of Rs 10 million for the national treasury.

The project got to a start in the year 2015 and completed towards the end of year 2017 under the directives of the office of the ‘Pibidemu Polonnaruwa’ district development project under the supervision of the presidential Secretariat.

The North Central Province Governor, Hon P.B. Dissanayake, Major General Sudantha Ranasinghe (Rtd), Project Director, ‘Pibidemu Polonnaruwa’, Health officials and public servants were among the attendees in the opening ceremony. Several other new buildings built under the same project were inaugurated by the President in the same ceremony.
