Army-Built New Home Given to Affected Family Members in Jaffna

2 Gemunu Watch (GW) troops of the 515 Brigade under the 51 Division of the Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J) formally handed over the Army-built new house to the family members of the Jaffna University undergraduate, late Wijayakumar Sulakshana who was killed in a Police shooting at early morning on 21 October 2016.

Hon. D.M. Swaminathan, Minister of Resettlement, Rehabilitation, Northern Development & Hindu Religious Affairs after the unfortunate incident laid the foundation stone for construction of a decent house for the victim’s family in Chunnakam in the Sandilippai Divisional Secretariat area.

After the Ministry allocated necessary funds for construction of the house which was channelled through the District Secretary, Jaffna and the Divisional Secretariat, those troops under the directions of the Commander, Security Forces - Jaffna (SF-J) and the supervision of Major General Roshan Seneviratne and the 515 Brigade Commander took the initiative in building the house.

On Saturday (7) a representative Army delegation handed over the keys of the new house to Divisional Secretariat Officials for onward action in the presence of the affected family members.
