Army Boxers Do Well in Selection Matches for Commonwealth Games

Sri Lanka Army boxers showed their colours in the just-concluded selection competition for Commonwealth Boxing Championship - 2018, organized by the Sri Lanka Amateur Boxing Association (ABA) during September 16-17 at Royal College MAS Arena in Colombo 7.

The national selection competition was approached by 80 boxers, representing 12 boxing clubs across the country.

21 Army boxers competed in the tournament and 10 male and female boxers were selected to join the upcoming competition. Army male boxers won the Championship in 3 slots and runners-up slots in six weight categories out of ten. Army boxers secured three Gold Medals and six Silver medals respectively in the selection competition. Army female boxers also secured 14 Bronze medals.

During the tournament, Army Woman Boxers also won 1 Gold Medal and 4 Bronze Medals under all five weight categories.

Major General Rukmal Dias, Chairman, Sri Lanka Army Boxing Committee, made arrangements in this regard.
