Army Bowsers Given to DMC for Relief Water Supplies

Alert to the prevailing dry weather conditions and aggravating drought, Sri Lanka Army, in response to a Presidential directive has instructed emergency contingents across the country to stand by in all 25 Districts to provide immediately relief when necessary as per guidelines given by the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva.

With the coordination of the Disaster Management Centre (DMC) through the Ministry of Defence, office of the Chief of Defence Staff, the Army has already released 6 water bowsers to the DMC in Kalutara District to assist drought-affected civilians in the south of Kalutara.

Security Force Headquarters - West (SFHQ-West) meanwhile on the directions of Major General Sudantha Ranasinghe, Commander, Security Forces - West (SF-West) are in the process of screening the worst-affected areas for supply of drinking water in an emergency.
