Army Badminton Players Carry Away Championship

The 25th Ariyadasa Silva Memorial Open Badminton Tournament, organized by Sri Lanka Badminton Association and Southern Province Badminton Association got off at Ambalangoda Dharmashoka College beginning June 27.

More than 270 badminton players including several from the Army contested in the tournament and both Championship and runners-up slots were won by Lance Corporal K.L.N. Karunathilake and Private L. Madhuwage in the men’s open single event.

A few other Army players secured semi finalist and quarter finalist slots in the tournament. Major M.M.S. Peiris emerged the winner in the over 40 men’s open singles event.
