Army to Assist Distribution of Fuel Supplies

Sri Lanka Army troops, together with sister services at the request of the Police have been deployed at Muthurajawela Petroleum storage and Kolonnawa Refinery site for security of those vital places and assist distribution of fuel supplies since this morning (26).

The decision was effected after the government last night gazetted supply of fuel as an essential service following the ongoing trade union action. Army troops accordingly while providing security, would assist the petroleum employees willing to work with technical support, provided by members of the armed forces.
