Eight civil sector volleyball teams, together with 22 Army (men) teams vied in the annual volleyball tournament, held at Kilinochchi Madya Maha Vidyalaya playground.
The annual event, proposed by Major General Sudantha Ranasinghe, Commander, Security Force Headquarters - Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN), reached its apex with the finals, played on Sunday (22).
3 Gajaba Regiment (GR) volleyball team and 9 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) team had their encounter from the Army section while Malayalapuram team and Thirunagar team qualified for the finals from the civil sector.
After close encounters, 3 Gajaba Regiment Volleyball team emerged victors while Malayalapuram team of the civil sector won the trophy.
In the women’s sector, 6 Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps team and Krishnapuram women’s team carried away championships.
Major General Ranasinghe distributed trophies and certificates as well as cash prizes to the winners. Those runners-up were also presented trophies and prizes by General Officers Commanding at 57 and 66 Divisions.
